Description

Non-Rising Stem Gate Valve

Product Overview

Our non-rising stem (NRS) gate valve, also known as rotating stem gate valve, is a widely adopted on-off valve designed for industrial pipeline systems. Different from conventional rising stem gate valves, its stem only rotates without vertical displacement during operation. The trapezoidal thread at the bottom of the stem connects with the gate disc, converting rotational torque into linear movement to lift or lower the gate for opening and closing the pipeline.
Featuring a compact overall structure and fixed external height, this valve is specially engineered for installations with limited vertical clearance, such as buried pipelines, valve pits, underground facilities and compact equipment rooms. It is manufactured in strict accordance with API 600, ASME B16.34 and ASME B16.10 international standards, and fully tested per API 598 to guarantee reliable sealing and long-term stable performance. Widely applicable to oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, water treatment, urban water supply and fire protection systems, it can handle water, steam, petroleum and other conventional industrial media.

Working Principle

The stem nut is integrated inside the valve body and bonnet. When the handwheel or actuator drives the stem to rotate, the built-in thread pushes the gate disc to move up and down along the guide mechanism. The stem remains stationary in vertical direction all the time, so the overall height of the valve will not change. A calibrated position indicator is equipped as standard to clearly show the open/closed status, making operation and daily inspection convenient. The built-in guide structure effectively prevents the gate from rotating during movement, ensuring the gate fits tightly with the valve seat and maintaining excellent sealing performance.

Design & Features

  1. Non-rising stem & bolted bonnet structure
The stem and threads are enclosed inside the valve body, effectively protecting key components from dust, debris and external impact, and greatly reducing the risk of corrosion and mechanical damage. The bolted bonnet ensures high structural tightness under high pressure.
  2. Full bore design
Straight-through flow channel minimizes fluid resistance and pressure loss. The medium can flow bidirectionally without changing flow direction, and it is not easy to generate water hammer, which is friendly to long-distance pipeline operation.
  3. Premium materials & reliable sealing
Available in carbon steel (WCB), stainless steel and alloy steel body materials, adapting to diverse medium and temperature conditions. The flexible wedge design reduces friction between the gate and seat during switching, lowering wear and extending service life. All internal and external surfaces adopt anti-rust epoxy coating for enhanced corrosion resistance.
  4. Diversified operation modes
Multiple operation options are provided: handwheel, spur gearbox, bevel gear, pneumatic, electric, electro-hydraulic and gas-over-oil actuator, meeting manual and automatic control demands for different projects.
  5. Practical auxiliary configurations
Equipped with lifting lugs and supporting legs for easy transportation and on-site installation. The drain plug can discharge residual medium inside the valve regularly. Optional bypass device is available to adapt to special pipeline working conditions. The gate disc adopts limit stop design to avoid over-travel during operation.
